Avoid these boating mistakes

Boatus has compiled a list of 5 boating mistakes from insurance records. You want to try to avoid these mistakes when you get repairs done on your boat.

  1. Make sure you have a purchase comtract when ypu buy a boat. It should spell out the equipment that will come with the boat. The equipment can be a significant portion of the total price.
  2. Sea Trial your boat after repairs are made. Make sure that all is well and that the boat runs like it should both mechanically and sea keeping.
  3. If you have repairs done to a boat and it is not satisfactory, you must return to the original shop to make good it’s warranty. If you go elsewhere the warranty may be void.
  4. If you buy a boat with an existing warranty, follow uo on the paperwork to make sure the warranty is transferred to you.
  5. Let the repair shop diagnose the problem. If you tell them waht to do to fix the problem, there may be no warranty if the problem reoccurs.
